With a stunning piece of art, Sircilla-based weaver Nalla Vijay Kumar has presented a masterpiece, a saree made entirely of gold. The unique creation was gifted to a Hyderabad-based businessman for his daughter’s wedding.
The order, which was placed six months ago, required meticulous work and attention to detail. Sircilla is a town in Telangana, famous for its skilled handloom weavers and Nalla Vijay is one of them.
Artist Vijay Kumar explained that turning gold into fine threads for weaving requires surgical precision and takes a long time. Once the gold thread was prepared, the saree was woven over a period of 10 to 12 days, bringing the intricate design to life.
The saree is 49 inches wide and measures five and a half feet long. It weighs between 800 and 900 grams and contains about 200 grams of pure gold. The total cost of creating this magnificent piece is around Rs 18 lakh.
Expressing his pride and satisfaction, Vijay Kumar said, “It is an honor to weave a unique saree. Completing this project not only brings me great joy but also fulfills a dream that reflects my love for this art”.
The saree will be presented to the family on the wedding day, October 17.
