Telangana BJP MLA Maheswar Reddy questions Rahul Gandhi’s religion, section; Congress responds – Telangana News

Telangana BJP MP A Maheshwar Reddy on Wednesday said that the Congress government is trying to deceive the backward classes in the name of caste survey.

The MLA also created a row by asking about Rahul Gandhi’s caste and religion.

In stark contrast to the BJP MP’s comments on Gandhi, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud asked whether Maheshwar Reddy was aware of Gandhi’s status while he was in the Congress.

Speaking to reporters, Maheshwar Reddy, leader of the BJP in Parliament, said “the caste and religion of Gandhi, who talks about caste-based census, should be known first.”

He also asked about Rahul Gandhi’s understanding of the culture and traditions of the country.

“Who is Rahul Gandhi’s grandfather? Feroz Jehangir Ghandy. (He is the grandson of) Feroz Jehangir. According to Hindu tradition, the father gets the grandfather’s caste and the son gets the father’s caste,” said the BJP MLA.

“According to me, Feroz Jehangir’s son should be Rajiv Jehangir, Rajiv Jehangir’s son should be Rahul Jehangir. He needs to say what caste and religion he is,” he said.

Recalling that a police case was filed in Karnataka against BJP member Basanagouda Patil Yatnal in a similar matter, Maheshwar Reddy said that CM Revanth Reddy may file a case against him again because of his words and that he is not afraid of charges.

Asserting that the BJP is not against caste polls, Maheshwar Reddy demanded that the ruling Congress fulfill the promises made to the backward classes in the ‘BC Declaration’ announced by it before the Assembly elections.

The BJP leader said the assurances made in the ‘BC Declaration’ include increasing BC’s share to 42 per cent from the existing 23 per cent in local bodies, giving 42 per cent reservation in government contracts and spending Rs 20,000 crore on welfare. Backward Communities.

Maheshwar Reddy also said that the BJP will remove the 4 percent quota given to minorities (in the BC category) in Telangana if it comes to power.

Speaking to Maheshwar Reddy, state Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud said the state BJP leaders should get the OBC population counted in the next year’s national census.

Goud, referring to Maheshwar Reddy’s past as a Congress leader, said Gandhi’s class and India’s class were the same.

Gandhi was accepted as a leader irrespective of his caste, religion and regional affiliations, said the PCC president.

The Telangana government’s comprehensive socio-economic, employment, political and structural survey, Rahul Gandhi’s election promise, began on Wednesday.
