Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announces Rs 3 lakh solatium for Dindigul fire victims – Tamil Nadu News

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced a solatium of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the six people who died in the fire accident.

He also announced that R1 lakh will be given to those who are treated for serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Rural Development in Tamil Nadu, Periyasamy said that the cause of the fire at the private hospital in Dindigul was reported to be due to short circuit.

Speaking to the media, Periyasamy said that the administration was not clear about the reason for taking a while. “The fire that broke out at 9.45 at night caused smoke to fill the hospital. Ambulances were called and the patients were taken to the government hospital,” he said.

At least six people were killed when a fire broke out at a private hospital in Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district on Thursday. A senior government official said 29 patients were shifted from a private hospital to the Dindigul government hospital.

The minister confirmed the death of six people. “Six died due to suffocation and two are in critical condition,” he said, adding that the other injured were being treated.

“CM Stalin called me and immediately ordered me to provide the necessary medical assistance,” said Periyasamy.

When news of the fire broke out, Dindigul district collector MN Poongodi spoke to the media and said that hospital patients have been shifted to nearby government and other medical facilities.

The senior officer of the fire and rescue department said that they are busy controlling the situation and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.
