Steps will be taken to start construction of Indiramma houses by Sankranti. The verification of 80,000 housing applications will be completed in the first week of January. Beneficiaries will be selected after that. About 32 lakh applications have been confirmed till Monday (December 23, 2024), said Telangana Finance Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
He held a meeting to review houses, two-bedroom houses, at the Telangana Housing Corporation office in Hyderabad on Tuesday (December 24, 2024).
A separate unit to deal with housing complaints will be established within a week, he said. A toll free number and database will be set up. Officials will return to complainants with responses regarding complaints.
Guidelines will be announced
Guidelines for housing construction will be announced. A project director of the chief engineer’s division was appointed in each district to supervise the construction of houses.
He said that 20 lakh houses will be built in four years and 4.5 lakh houses will be built every year. Priority will be given to people who own land, regardless of whether they have a budget card. Indiramma committees formed at the village level will select the beneficiaries, he said.
The Minister of Finance added that construction will resume on the houses left unfinished by the previous government.
