Sophie Turner says her divorce from Joe Jonas was ‘Incredibly sad’

Now a year has been removed since his breakup Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner he can reflect on his marriage and all that comes with it.

Now living in west London after moving to the United States with Jonas, Turner, 28, has embraced motherhood and is focused on setting an example for her two daughters, Willa and Delphine, who she shares with Jonas.

“Before I had children, I was very depressed and anxious, and I isolated myself [myself] a lot,” he said Harper’s Bazaar in an article published on Wednesday, October 30. “Now, I think I live my life for them. I want them to see me as having good relationships and enjoying work and progressing in my work and in my relationships.”

It took a lot for Turner to get there. Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023, starting a custody battle and ongoing legal action. Reflecting on the past year, Turner says his latest project is “kind of a horror movie” with him Game of Throness costar Kit Harringtonhe imitated his real experience.

“It was a very painful thing for me,” he said. “It was an opportunity to vent a lot of anger, which was nice. So that seemed right for me to do.”

Although she has now moved on from her relationship with Jonas, Turner can look back on the good times.

“I’m going through the legal process right now so I can’t say much, but it’s been incredibly painful,” she said. “We had a good relationship, and it was difficult.”

One of the most difficult things at that time in his life was being away from home. She and Jonas got married in Las Vegas, then lived together in Los Angeles and Miami.

“I’m very happy to be back. It was as if my life stopped until I returned to England,” he said. “I never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family. I was gone for a long time – six years – and it was when my friends got engaged, and when I got pregnant. I went to dinner with someone the other day, and he said, ‘I’ve never touched your belly.’ We didn’t have that important experience with each other.”

The homesickness was real, and he dealt with it the same way anyone would – with food that reminded him of home.

“In all the cities we stopped in, the first thing I would do was find a British store and stock up on chocolate for the whole month,” he said, before adding that things around him quickly escalated.

“Gun violence, Roe v. Wade being overturned … everything just piled up,” he added. “After Uvalde [school] shooting, I knew it was time to get the f— out of there.”
