‘Severance’ Season 2 trailer shows what happened after that heartbreaking Season 1 cliffhanger

Calling all the Innies and Outies! We finally got the full trailer Separation Season 2 – and it gives us some much-needed answers about what happened after the season 1 cliffhanger ended.

BREAKFUT:

12 burning questions we have after the ‘Dividing’ Season 2 trailer

Recap: Season 1 ended with Lumon’s terminated employees Mark S. (Adam Scott), Helly R. (Britt Lower), Irving B. (John Turturro), and Dylan G. (Zach Cherry) planning a daring escape from Lumon. Lumon catches up and takes them back, but not before Mark reveals that Outie’s late wife Gemma is still alive as Lumon’s health counselor Ms. Casey (Dichen Lachman). I scream thinking about it (and have been thinking about it for the past two and a half years).

So what are the next steps for Innies, now that they have been discovered? And how will Lumon take revenge?

According to the trailer, it won’t. Instead, the designated floor manager Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman) says that the Innies have become popular overseas, which has caused layoffs throughout Lumon. Like all things in Lumon, this sounds as murky as can be – but at least there’s no major punishment for the Innies. (At least, not yet.)

With that direct threat out of the way, Mark’s Innie turns to his new mission: Getting Ms. Casey out of Lumon. Oh, and if he and his fellow crodata refiners can find out what they’re working on along the way, that would be great. According to Lumon higher-up (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) who was recently introduced, “their work will be remembered as one of the greatest moments of this planet.” So that means it’s pretty good, either a lot bad. Since it’s Lumon, let’s go with the last one.

Outside, Mark and his sister Devon (Jen Tullock) try to unravel the mystery of Gemma themselves, and why Ms. Cobel/Mrs. Selvig (Patricia Arquette) is very worried about their family. Their roots! Not because I love them, but because I, too, need to know.

But Mark isn’t the only Outie getting the spotlight this season. We also see Irving’s Outie making mysterious calls at the phone booth – and possibly meeting Burt’s (Christopher Walken) Outie. Meanwhile, Helly’s Outie, aka Helena Eagan, Lumon’s heiress, is in full damage control mode. No signs of Dylan’s Outie yet, but I’m sure Separation he will not leave him out.

All of this is already a lot to take in, and I haven’t even touched on Lumon’s determined new crew, played by Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and Stefano Carannante; modified goat room; or Ms. Huang (Sarah Bock), an actual child who works as the deputy manager of the designated floor.

The questions keep piling up, so give Kier credit Separation Season 2 is about to (hopefully) answer them.

Separation Season 2 starts Jan. 17 on AppleTV+.
