Services on the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel, which was hacked on Friday, have resumed.
“This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India is live and up. Services on the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India have been started,” said a notice posted on the apex court’s website on Friday.
The high court’s YouTube channel was hacked on Friday and showed videos promoting the cryptocurrency developed by the US company Ripple Labs.
A blank video titled “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION” was live on a hacked channel.
Later in the day, a notice posted on the high court’s website informed that the court’s YouTube channel has been taken down.
“This is to inform all concerned that the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India has been taken down. Services on the YouTube channel of the Supreme Court of India will be resumed soon,” said a notice posted on the high court’s website early Friday.
Later, another notice was uploaded on the website, saying that the YouTube channel is live and the services have resumed.
The Supreme Court has been using YouTube to live stream the proceedings of cases filed before the Constitutional Benches and matters of public interest.
In a unanimous decision taken by the full bench chaired by the then CJI UU Lalit, the apex court decided to telecast the proceedings of all the deliberations of the Constitution bench following a landmark decision in the matter in 2018.
