Russia has planned “acts of terrorism” in the air against Poland and other countries, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Wednesday after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Warsaw.
Security officials say the packages that exploded in warehouses in Europe were part of an investigation into a Russian plot to detonate cargo planes bound for the United States. The explosions took place at depots in Britain, Germany and Poland in July. Russia has denied that it is involved in these incidents and Tusk did not talk about them directly.
“The latest information can confirm the truth of the fear that Russia was planning terrorist acts in the air and not only in Poland,” Tusk told a press conference.
He did not say what actions he was talking about or elaborate on the content of the information.
The Russian embassy in Warsaw and the Russian Foreign Ministry did not respond to requests for comment on Tusk’s statement.
Moscow has consistently denied involvement in the bombing of the bookstore, as well as burglaries, arson attacks and attacks that Western officials say were carried out by Russian paid agents.
