Rep. Gimenez warns China is ‘big threat’ to US, Trump administration will ‘project power’ on CCP

INTERMEDIATE: Rep. Carlos Gimenez, a member of the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), said that China is a “big threat” to the United States and that President-elect Donald Trump will bring “peace through force, not through peace and apology.”

Gimenez, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital that the CCP is “an enemy to watch, militarily and economically.”

“China is making great progress in the world,” Gimenez said, pointing to its strength in manufacturing, especially in defense and weapons. “It’s more than America’s and we’ve realized that we’re lacking.”

Gimenez said the Russia-Ukraine war “has shown us that our defense capabilities have been reduced for decades.”

“It shows that we can quickly run out of weapons if we have a long-term war with China,” he said, warning that China also “has the ability to produce more ships than we do.”

Gimenez said the US is “trying to participate.”

“We have to review the way we do things in the Pentagon, we have to be patient, we have to engage the private sector, and we have to end the discrimination that has hampered our ability to defend ourselves,” he said.

But regarding the approach of China’s threat, Gimenez criticized the Biden administration, particularly President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“I think China, and Biden and Blinken, thought they could do whatever they wanted or they thought they could manipulate them,” he said. “The Biden administration has always shown weakness and tried to appease our enemies, while Trump knows very well who our friends are, who our enemies are and he will put America’s security first.”

Gimenez added, “You understand that America’s security is in peace with strength, not in peace with peace.”

In terms of dealing with the threat in the coming months, Gimenez highlighted the importance of the US being forcefully independent.

Gimenez said he wants to “make America the spigot of power in the world, where the world goes to get power from America.”

“It can help our financial situation, our balance sheet, and give us the ability to help our friends and weaken our enemies,” he said.

“We can use our power as an economic weapon to fight our enemies, help our friends and hurt our enemies,” he continued. “We can replace Iranian and Venezuelan oil with American oil, Russian oil and American oil, and starve those countries that are allied with China, which are their main source of income, and hinder their ability to help China.”

“If China finds itself alone in the world, I think that’s the best way we can contain this threat,” he said. “But we must show strength and determination to face the CCP’s wrath.”

Regarding the House Select Committee on the CCP, he said “they have a lot of work to do.”

“The threat from China is growing,” he said, noting that the committee is bipartisan in nature and that members on both sides of the aisle “have bought into the fact that China is a threat and that China will be a threat.”

“It’s not climate change, it’s China,” he said. “And we have to face that threat or live in a country ruled by the Chinese Communist Party.”

“And Trump will show strength and back those words with action.”
