A video of Wednesday night’s altercation between Rajasthan MP Kirodi Lal Meena and Mahesh Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Kavita Sharma has gone viral. In the picture, Meena is seen shouting, “Why did you bring this woman to the station?” while Sharma replied, “Please speak properly. I’m doing my job.”
After the video went viral, Meena approached Home Minister Jawahar Singh Bedham on Thursday morning, demanding Sharma’s arrest. Meena accused the SHO of locking people in rooms at night and detaining women from their residences without proper reasons. He also pointed out that Sharma had faced previous cases and was appointed below the standard of sportsmanship.
Meena, who has resigned from her position as Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture, has spoken badly about the state government. Earlier, he announced that he will hold a protest on December 5, demanding the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector recruitment tests due to alleged illegality.
The night clash happened after the police visited the hostel to detain the people who were organizing the protest. Until Meena intervened, she came to the hostel and the police station to release them, which led to a lot of noise among the police.
One of those arrested, as seen in the viral video, is the wife of Vikas Vidhuri, a student leader who rode on a water tank during the protest demanding the cancellation of the examination. The Rajasthan High Court is expected to hear an appeal against the trial on October 10, where the state government is expected to present its case.
