Rajasthan High Court issues notice to state government, Center regarding Jaipur LPG tank explosion

The Rajasthan High Court has observed this LPG tank explosion accident in Jaipur that killed 14 people and left many injured and issued notices to the central and state governments.

A single-judge bench of Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand also directed both the governments to ensure adequate compensation to the families of the accident victims and the injured. He listed the matter for further trial on January 10, 2025.

LPG tanker collided with a truck, on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, which was engulfed in a massive fire that engulfed the hot spot, at least 37 vehicles burst into flames. At least 14 people died as a result of the explosion and 30 others are in critical condition.

The court said that it has taken this issue seriously so that solutions can be found to prevent fire accidents like this in public places.

Notably, the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety has directed the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan to submit a detailed report on the incident on January 20. An executive committee has been constituted to thoroughly investigate all aspects of the accident, including the depth. road construction inspection, if applicable.

The Rajasthan government has announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. The Central Government has also announced Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who lost their lives.
