Mumbai-Pune became India’s leading route while Pune emerged as Uber’s key hub in India, securing the fifth position with the highest number of rides, according to the company’s latest report.
Titled ‘How India Performed in 2024’, the report also saw Pune ranked well in the ratings given by drivers to their favorite passengers. The high rating shows that Pune commuters have a good reputation for maintaining a good driver experience.
Pune stood out with one of the highest ridership ratings in the country, at 4.815, just behind Chandigarh, and was the second city in India after Kochi with 93 percent of trips where drivers rated passengers five-star. Kochi riders were the most popular with Uber drivers during the year, with the city having the highest rider rating of 4.90 out of 5.
As per the data, for Pune in particular, the inter-city routes have seen huge traction, travelers tend to book trips to nearby destinations like Mumbai and other destinations between Pune and Mumbai. Additionally, Pune is among the top five cities in India in terms of the fastest average speed on roads, while Delhi-NCR is at the top.
According to the information provided, last year, Indians Ubered more than ever before, setting new benchmarks and ways of traveling that shape travel in the country. In total, Uber trips covered a staggering 9.2 billion miles by 2024.
Considering Pune’s transportation needs at the Pune International Airport (PIA), Uber recently launched India’s first ‘Assistance Service’ option on its app at a new location. This provides a special service for people with mobility challenges and makes it easier for them to reach their destinations. This facility was started in Pune only to directly drop passengers selected as persons with disabilities (PWD), single women and pregnant women in their respective areas.
Speaking about the need for cabs at the Aeromall parking lot, YS Rajput, the vice president of the Aeromall Authority, said that passengers ride Uber more than others as the Aeromall parking lot has more Uber taxis than other companies including aggregators.
