PM Modi congratulates US President Trump: Looking forward to working together again


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. Calling Trump his dear friend, PM Modi said he is looking forward to working closely.

“Congratulations, my dear friend President Donald Trump, on your historic inauguration as the 47th President of the United States! I look forward to working closely together to benefit both our countries and build a better future for the world. A prosperous time ahead!” PM wrote in X’s post.

Trump was sworn in on Monday as the 47th President of the United Statesmarking his dramatic return to power for a second term four years after he left the US capital as a pariah.

Minister of Foreign Affairs US Jaishankar was said to be carrying a letter from PM Modi to US President Trump. Jaishankar represented Prime Minister Modi as his special envoy at President Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

EAM Jaishankar’s presence at the presidential inauguration is in line with India’s usual practice of sending special envoys to attend the swearing-in ceremony of heads of state and government, sources said.
