Satanic Panic got a clip on the latest season of Stranger Thingsbut it takes center stage in the new Peacock series Hysteria! When a young metal band decides to use their devil-worshipping paranoia to boost their band’s reputation, the parents begin to believe that there is an actual cult at work among them—an idea reinforced by the fact that many strange and unexplainable things have begun to happen.
It begins, however, with a strange disappearance, which you can see in the brand new trailer for the show:
Whenever there’s a new Bruce Campbell project, you know we tune in automatically; here, you’re the reluctant sheriff of Happy Hollow, a sleepy community whose residents are caught up in the culture wars of the 80s. Other actors of Hysteria! very good, including Julie Bowen (Modern Family)Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect)and Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer).
Here’s the official synopsis: “When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late 1980s, Hysteria! follows a struggling high school group of outcasts who realize they can take advantage of the town’s sudden rise in occultism by making a name for themselves as a satanic metal band. This is until a strange series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ prompts a leather witch hunt that leads directly to them.”
Hysteria! releases all eight episodes on October 18 on Peacock; USA Network and Syfy will air the first episode on October 18. If binging isn’t your thing, you can catch new episodes every Friday on USA Network.
