More than 150 people were injured, eight critically, in an explosion incident during a temple festival near Neeleswaram in Kerala on Monday, Kasaragod police said. The incident took place at the Anjoottambalam Veerar Kavu temple.

The police said that the injured were taken to different hospitals in Kasargod, Kannur, and Mangaluru.

Some videos of this incident, which have spread on social media, show a time of grief.

Speaking to CNN-News18, Superintendent of Police, Kasargod, said that the people who were at the event were standing very close and very close to the place where the flaming explosives were placed.

The official also said that the temple authorities did not follow the rules of the festival and action will be taken.

Senior officials of the district administration, including the collector and the district superintendent of police, reached the place after getting information about the incident.
