In Orlando, Florida, two theme parks are fighting for visitors’ hard-earned money: Universal Studios and Walt Disney World. Traditionally, Disney has won this battle, although Universal has made itself look more attractive by creating the entire Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now, it is adding another theme park known as Universal Epic Universe, and that park will officially open on May 22, 2025.
Epic Universe Opens in May
The public has known about the existence of Universal Epic Universe for some time now, and theme park lovers have been eager to see what new entertainment is on offer. This has led to widespread speculation about the earliest date when visitors to sunny Orlando, Florida can explore the latest attractions. Now, the official opening date is May 22, 2025, and annual passholders have just been given the chance to purchase one-day passes to Epic Universe.
If you’ve been living under a rock, or maybe you just shy away from all things Florida related (as a resident, we wouldn’t exactly blame you), you might need a refresher on what Epic Universe is all about. Basically, the theme park built on the success of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, making that magical world part of the universe of other themed areas. Celestial Park will serve as a hub connecting the Harry Potter section with new sections: How to Train Your Dragon, Super Nintendo World, and Dark Universe (focusing on classic Universal Monsters).
The Wizarding World Seemed to Succeed
You don’t have to have magical skills to guess that Universal’s focus on the Epic Universe was fueled by the success of The Wizarding World. Before the addition of this Harry Potter-themed area, Universal Orlando undoubtedly felt like it belonged in the past, with its main attractions based on established IPs such as Black Men, Transformers, ETand so on. While much of this is still great fun, it’s hard to deny that the ride is based on things like the ’90s. Spider-Man: The Animated Series they were not the first to feel their age.
The addition of the Wizarding World added a powerful jolt (or should that be lightning?) to the aging theme park, adding new rides based on the Harry Potter experience, including Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, as well. as fully focused features. Fans can see goblins at Gringotts Bank, shop for forbidden items in Diagon Alley, ride the Hogwarts Express, or simply experience Hogwarts itself while sipping on incredibly delicious butter.
To put it mildly, The Wizarding World has been such a success that fans are hoping the new additions to the Epic Universe will be similarly immersive. Of course, of course sounds fun: in Super Nintendo World, for example, an augmented reality attraction will simulate driving in Mario Kart (here’s hoping no Rainbow Road!). There will also be a Donkey Kong rollercoaster that mimics the carts jumping gaps on the track in the classic Super Nintendo game. Donkey Kong Country.
Buying Tickets
If you’d like to check out Epic Universe for yourself, you’ll need to be patient…while Universal allowed all-age riders to purchase tickets last week, they haven’t announced when general tickets will go on sale. If you hate crowds, beware, as the first days of Epic Universe will likely be packed with fans. You can always be patient like us, giving yourself more time to ask the big question: why, oh why, didn’t they name the Nintendo division Super Mario World instead?
