Nilgiris district administration urges visitors, residents with flu-like symptoms to wear masks

Nilgiris district collector, Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, said the district administration had not imposed restrictions on tourists to the Nilgiris, after the recent confirmed cases of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

Ms. Tanneeru said the district administration is monitoring the situation and that health teams have been deployed at all checkpoints to check if there are visitors showing signs of infection or illness. He urged visitors to the region and residents showing any symptoms of flu or illness, to wear masks at all times, including when in public places.
