NIA arrests Jharkhand man for promoting banned CPI’s (Maoist) ideology.


The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a key accused involved in raising money to promote the ideology of the banned CPI (Maoist) outfit in Jharkhand.

According to an official NIA statement, Bachha Singh alias Bachha Babu Singh, a resident of Govindpur (B) in Bokaro district of Jharkhand was arrested by the agency on Friday, January 3.

The NIA, which took over the case from the Anandpur police in August 2023, found that Singh was the Secretary of the Majdoor Sanghatan Samiti (MSS), a banned organization in the Jharkhand state government, a statement issued by the NIA read.

The accused was associated with the established terrorist organization CPI (Maoist) and its top leaders.

“He was instrumental in raising funds to promote the ideas of this outfit and strengthen its activities in Jharkhand and elsewhere,” the statement said.

A case was registered by the local police in July 2022 following the arrest of three CPI (Maoist) workers in Chaibasa district of Jharkhand, while they were on their way to meet Misir Besra, a member of the CPI (Maoist) Polit Bureau, to deliver letters written by Maoists Lajim Ansari and Saurabh, it said.
