Recently, MCC has withdrawn 23 seats from the NEET PG 2024 Round 3 seat matrix, while 12 seats have been added to the counseling in this round. Among the vacant seats are two posts for post-MBBS Diplomate of National Board (DNB) General Surgery at Ruby General Hospital in Kolkata.
According to the revised procedure, for general category and EWS candidates they have to score 15 and above while 10 percent is reserved for SC, ST, OBC, and PwD category candidates to participate in the counseling process.
NMC officials say the move is aimed at filling vacant medical seats across the country. However, experts are divided on the effects of cut-cutting. While some see it as a necessary step to fill vacant seats, others fear it will harm the quality of medical education and training.
