Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 5, 2024) said that the NDA government, at the states and at the Centre, always stands for the welfare of farmers. He said that Congress hates Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi as this system does not give any room for corruption.
While distributing the 18th installment of funds under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Washim, Maharashtra, Mr. Modi said that the farmers of Vidarbha and other districts of the State have faced great hardship for decades. “The Congress governments and their allies have left no stone unturned to make farmers miserable and suffer. As long as the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was in existence, it had only two plans. First- setting up projects related to farmers. The second is to commit corruption in the money of these programs,” he said.

He pointed out that the Congress government in Karnataka stopped some of the money that was being used by the BJP government to provide farmers and Kisan Samman Nidhi. He added that the farmers of Telangana today questioned the state government about the poll promise of loan waiver.
Apart from the Rs20,000-crore 18th installment to about 9.5 crore farmers, Mr. Modi also launched various programs such as the distribution of the fifth installment of NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, dedication of more than 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund. He praised the electricity credit policy for farmers implemented by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s government.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that not only Kisan Samman Nidhi but also 109 high yielding varieties of seeds have been given to farmers by Mr. Modi’s government. He said when the price of soy fell, Mr. Modi took a decision in favor of the farmers and imposed a 20% tax on soya oil from abroad and as a result, the price of soya is now increasing and the farmers are also benefiting. values. “Prime Minister Modi has reduced the export duty from 40% to 20% so that onion farmers in Maharashtra can get better prices,” said Mr. Chouhan.
