Mobile Suit Gundam’s Show Next Comes to Theaters


This weekend, Japanese audiences got a hot new look Mobile Suit Gundam series, GQuuuuuuuXin theaters. Fortunately, North American audiences will also get a chance to see the upcoming anime on the big screen, too—we’ll just have to wait a little longer before we know.

On Friday, film distributor Gkids revealed that it has acquired the theatrical rights Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuuX -Beginning- the movie. It will hit theaters here on February 28th and on… that’s not clear yet, and it’s not clear if the screens will only have Japanese audio (like Dan Da Dan hit theaters last year), or include an English dub. Although the big franchise is not known for theatrical films and compilations, this makes a first Gundam show since The Reconguista of G having its first three episodes hit theaters, and the first show in the commercial period to reach North American territories.

GQuuuuuuuX it comes with a lot of creative talent behind it Neon Genesis Evangelion students of Kazuya Tsurumaki and Yoji Enokido, and the creator of that business, Hideaki Anno. In a statement, Gkids president David Jesteadt highlighted the mecha series’ pedigree, saying “their incredible combination of artistic talent collaborating on a series as storied as Mobile Suit Gundam to view an appointment. We are proud to be involved in bringing an exciting new project to audiences for a cinematic experience truly worthy of the film.”

We are still waiting Mobile Suit Gundam: GQuuuuuuX’s With a theatrical cut on February 28 (and the original show set to play sometime this year), it might not hurt to catch the shows set at Universal Century to continue, as it seems that might be important. Besides, Mubi has just been followed After War Gundam X, and that sounds pretty good in itself.
