The Minister of Agriculture and Handicrafts and Textiles Tummala Nageswara Rao urged the chairmen and Managing Directors of the companies under his department to work hard to restore them to their former glory and assured them of the government’s support in their efforts to develop farmers and weavers across the State.
He directed the MD of Telangana State Agro Industries Development Corporation (TS-Agros) to prepare proposals for establishing Rythu Seva Kendras.
He conducted a review meeting with the chairman and directors of the agriculture, handloom and allied corporations at the Secretariat on Tuesday. At the event, he also launched Quixy software, developed to digitize the operations of Telangana State Warehousing Corporation. This software is expected to improve inventory management and will gradually be extended to other companies within the agricultural and handloom industry.
During the meeting, the managing director of Telangana State Handloom Weaver Cooperative Society Limited, Shailaja Ramaiyer, reported that TSCO has received contracts worth Rs 234.80 crore from ten government departments to supply uniforms and bedding for the financial year 2024-25. He added, “TSCO has also embraced innovation through initiatives such as e-commerce platforms and the ‘Cheneta Lakshmi’ initiative, which generated sales of R2.3 million.”
In response, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of weavers and suggested promotional schemes like ‘Cheneta Lakshmi’ and e-commerce to boost sales. He also advised TSCO to focus on quality production and designs driven by market demand.
The managing director of Telangana Warehousing Corporation, Lakshmi, gave an overview of the company’s current storage capacity and stock levels. He discussed plans to make full use of warehouses, modernize warehouses and establish cold storage facilities. He stressed that the program coordinated with Markfed and the Marketing department will improve the use of goods, reduce transportation costs and reduce the financial burden.
“A number of changes to Quixy’s software have been proposed, including the use of AI technology to monitor warehouse conditions such as temperature and humidity, as well as capture vehicle information for better tracking and management,” he said. Meanwhile, Minister Rao ordered TS Oilfed to speed up the construction of an oil palm factory in Siddipet, with the aim of starting operations in August next year.
