Mining giant Rio Tinto is in talks to buy US lithium producer Arcadium

The second largest miner in the world Rio Tinto has expressed interest in acquiring US lithium producer Arcadium, the two companies confirmed in separate statements on Monday.

No financial details have been disclosed. Rio Tinto said there was no certainty that any transaction would be agreed. The move comes as mining companies seek to secure key minerals for the world’s energy transition.
