Meta is reportedly adding displays to its Ray-Ban smart glasses

It looks like Meta is getting ready to add displays to its popular line of Ray-Ban smart glasses, . These screens may appear in the upcoming iteration of the device early next year. A possible release window is the second half of 2025.

According to people familiar with Meta’s plans, the screens will be on the small side and will likely be used to display notifications or responses from Meta’s AI virtual assistant. It is unlikely that the company plans to make this a full mixed reality device yet.

For that matter, the Meta has, been out for several years. The same report indicates that the positive response to the Orion glasses likely accelerated development and possibly ensured a commercial release. There was no guarantee that those glasses would remain a household model.

Ray-Ban’s smart glasses have been great at Meta, . They look great and perform admirably. The current model includes in-ear speakers, cameras, microphones and access to the Meta virtual assistant.

I really enjoy the simplicity of the current design, especially when taking photos and videos. My hope is that the screens don’t interfere with that convenience and don’t come at the cost of, say, an upgrade to the camera system.

Ray-Ban Meta sunglasses are, after all, the perfect device for taking quick pet photos. Have you ever tried to immobilize an animal so you can take your phone out of your bag to take a picture? Those cuties darned never. Ray-Bans solve that problem.
