Meerut boy commits suicide after family sells his Bullet bike to ‘bad company’

A Class 9 student in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh has committed suicide after allegedly being scolded by his family for joining the wrong crowd.

According to the police, the teenager shot himself with a gun in the temple after his mother and elder brother sold his motorcycle to discourage him from associating with bad people.

The boy’s mother, who is a nurse at a medical college, returned home with her eldest son around 8pm on Saturday, January 12. When they arrived, the youngest son was seen standing on the balcony of their house. After a while, he went into his room and shot himself.

The family members broke the window and entered the room and found him lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Before killing himself, the boy had reportedly searched the internet for “what happens to the soul after death” on Google and YouTube.

The family, originally from Bulandshahr, had moved to Meerut six months ago after buying a house in Apex Colony. The mother, who lost her husband to illness about a year ago, was raising her two sons—her 17-year-old eldest son and the deceased boy—alone.

Police found a gun at the scene. During the investigation, it was revealed that the family had scolded the child many times for his behavior and sold his Bullet bike to reduce his contact with the bad crowd.

Meerut Rural SP Rakesh Kumar said the police conducted a post-mortem and handed over the body to the family. “The family did not file a formal complaint,” he added.
