McDonald’s is launching Pokemon Happy Meals in the US

McDonald’s very popular Pokemon Happy Meals are back.

American restaurants began selling limited-time, themed Happy Meals on Tuesday and will continue to offer them while supplies last, the fast-food giant said.

“There is nothing more exciting than when we can bring campaigns to our fans and partners to be our fans,” McDonald’s chief marketing officer Guillaume Huin said in a statement. “Just like they do at McDonald’s, our fans have a deep desire and passion for the Pokemon brand.”

Those who order Happy Meals “will have a chance to find a variety of Pokemon, including fan-favorite Dragon-type Pokemon,” according to McDonald’s.

That’s possible thanks to a Pokemon trading card “booster” pack of four cards that come with Happy Meals, as well as a poster and stickers.

In partnership with Pokemon Company International, the fast-food giant said there are 15 different Pokemon trading cards – each featuring a different Pokemon – that shoppers can get a Happy Meal.

McDonald’s customers can also expect Happy Meal boxes to sport Pokemon on them. Three types of boxes contain one Pokemon – Charizard, Rayquaza or Roaring Moon – and another like Pikachu and Dragonite, McDonald’s said.

The fast food giant has paired Happy Meals with Pokemon cards many times in the past. In 2021, for example, companies gave out packs of Pokemon trading cards to Happy Meals that had Pikachu on the boxes to commemorate Pokemon’s 25th anniversary, Fox News Digital reported.

Happy Meals have been part of the McDonald’s menu for decades. This dish, which is a popular order for children, marked its 40th anniversary in 2019.
