As it is paired with Disney, the Marvel movies have taken over Pop culture to such an extent that many people seem to forget the earlier times, a world where the characters of the MCU had no meaning other than “
While Disney’s era of wonder has embraced and integrated some of the superhero efforts of the past, such as the Pre-MCU Spider-Man’s film or Wolven’s Wolvel’s Wolves, there are many old Marvel movies and TV shows that seem right to walk in the dust.
One popular Marvel character is seeing his entire film history disappear from today’s generations and I’m here to do everything I can to see that doesn’t happen. That’s why we need to save the punisher movies.
The origin of the punisher begins with Spider-man
The punisher is the oppositeand that’s putting it simply. Unlike enough, he was organized inside The amazing spider-man #129 just five months before the 1974 hit was released web Death Wishes. The Punisher – the real name of Frank Castle – is a gangster who fights a deadly war against crime in New York City.
After gaining surprising popularity with readers and his comic title, the Punisher first jumped onto the big screen in 1989 with his first film. The problems started there.
The first Punisher movie was released in 1989 and starred Dolph Lundgren
1989’s Punishment The Movie was produced by New World Pictures, the studio overseen by the beloved and beloved Roger Corman. Punishment it would end up being the second last movie produced by New World due to their financial problems. That means again Punishment It was unable to secure distribution for the sport in the United States, settling for a direct video release two years after it was scheduled for international markets.
Rocky IV Star Dolph Lundgren was cast as Frank Castle, and while I admit to a legitimate appreciation for Lundgren’s brand of acting, it’s worth mentioning Punishment not his finest moment as a thespian.
It doesn’t help that the iconic logo for the punisher was removed from his outfit to get knives thrown at him. Director Mark Goldblatt clearly regrets the decision, and I’m sure the fans agree.
For ’80s Vigilante Carlig Flick, Punishment it’s not a bad time. The movie gained a cult following over the years, proving that the power of the Punisher was about to catch on in the movie world.
The Punisher was brought back for another movie in 2004
Frank Castle got another shot at the box office in 2004, once again calling the pilot a tribute. After the Big Comic Book Movie Movie Boom that brought the blade, the X-men, and the spider, the suspect was scheduled to be a notch with the Bigvel blockbuster belt.
Until the movie enters the box office, it opens in the #2 position behind Kill Bill: Volume 2. That’s a lie, as The Punisher (2004) is a big step up from the previous film. Thomas Jane is excellent as Frank Castle and really cares about doing the characters justice – so much so that he even returned to the character in a short bootleg eight years after the original movie.
Punishment (2004) takes inspiration from the Garth Ennis Comic Book run with the character, and the movie does a good job of keeping the tone of the comic book. John Travolta as the villain is accepted, but Thomas Jane’s portrayal and strong direction from Jonathan HenSeagh do the punishment (2004) Better than a conservative approach would lead you to believe.
Unfortunately, when your Marvel movie is released two months earlier Spider-Man 2you are very beautiful sol.
Punisher: War Zone rebooted the character in 2008
Since the Thomas Jane Version did not conquer the box office, we got a reboot four years later The Punisher: War Zone. It is here that he was punished and punished completely. Because The Punisher: War Zone it’s a blast.
Taking more inspiration from Garth Ennis’s Over-the-top take on the character, The Punisher: War Zone Director Lexi Alexander wanted to inject more humor and dark humor into the project, and the movie is all the better for it.
Dominic West, as the jigsaw villain, gives a bad boy performance like an episode of the ‘0s batman show. It’s surprising. I could see him doing that goofy accent for days.
That’s not to say that Ray Stevenson doesn’t do a stellar job as the very focused and minimalist take on Frank’s castle. You get the tone right every time, whether it’s sweet madness or a real emotional beat. It’s a shame Stevenson never got another shot with Frank Castle because he nails the dark fun of the character so well.
And any movie that features a parkour gangster getting hit by mistle is my idea of a good time.
Sadly, The Punisher: War Zone He also revealed that the character assassination is blowing up at the box office, opening at #8. Frank Castle couldn’t catch a break.
Some penalized movies are removed and can no longer be watched
So here we have three different takes on the Punisher in the movies, and each one has its merits and fans. But it might be difficult to find and make new fans since all three movies have been left in the digital dust.
From this recording, The Punisher: War Zone – The movie that I can argue is better than any MCU movie, that should get y’all talking in the comments – it has a stream only available on plutotv in general definition. Otherwise, you will have to rent or buy the movie to see it.
At least, The Punisher: War Zone is available through the most popular VOD services. Punishment (2004) is only available to rent or purchase through the Obcesse streaming service. None of the digital storefronts in the US seem to carry it.
Punishment (1989) is not available in any digital storefronts at all. You’ll have to track down a physical copy or get a digital version in ways that will make Frank Castle look like a thief.
Jon Bernthal Puntaisher is the only one Marvel wants you to see
If you are looking for anyone who pirates streaming easily, your only access will be Punishment TV series. With Marvel committed to their MCU versions of those in the MCU, Jon Bernthal has taken up the Punisher mantle and is probably the only Punisher young fans have ever seen in the cinema.
Actually, that sucks. Part of what makes comic book characters great is that different writers and artists are providing new ways to create long-lasting characters and how they are portrayed. I don’t want to live in a world where only the batman type is seen and celebrated. I’m looking for as many different and unique stories as possible so you get a chance at the viewing platform.
The same goes for the punishers. All three movies deserve their fans, and they could use more.
