The Mumbai Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory on Wednesday ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the Maharashtra Chief Minister, scheduled to take place on Thursday at Azad Maidan in Mumbai.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will be sworn in as the chief minister, while CM Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar will be sworn in as his deputies.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd, and authorities have taken steps to ensure smooth traffic and reduce congestion in the area. The advisory will be in effect from 12:00 pm on December 5 until the end of the event, said the traffic police.

The “Swearing-in Ceremony” is organized inside Azad Maidan. A large number of people will be present at the said swearing-in ceremony. To avoid traffic jams during the event, the traffic changes mentioned dt. 12 AM on 5/12/ 2024 till the end of the event,” Mumbai Traffic Police shared in X and official order.

Since there will be no parking spaces near Azad Maidan, the traffic police have advised those who will attend the event to use public transport, especially local trains, to reach the venue. Several roads will be closed or diverted to manage the expected crowd and ease traffic in the area.

The Mumbai Police also urges citizens to plan their journeys carefully and be aware of traffic changes, especially as more people will travel to Azad Maidan and the CSTM area for the event.

According to the official traffic order, the following alternative routes will be in place:

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSTM) to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction): Traffic will be diverted via LT Road – Chakala Junction – Right Turn – DN Road – CSTM Junction. Reverse directions.

Mahatma Gandhi Road (CST to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk): Traffic will be diverted via LT Road – Chakala Junction – Right Turn – DN Road – CSTM. Another route is Maharshi Karve Road (MK Road).

Hazari Mal Somani Road: From Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) to CSTM Junction, traffic will be restricted. Another route will pass through Chafekar Bandhu Chowk (OCS Junction) – Hutatma Chowk – Kala Ghoda – K Dabhade Marg – Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg.

Princess Street Bridge (Meghdutt Bridge) (Southbound): Traffic will be diverted via NS road towards Shyamaldas Gandhi Junction.

Rambhau Salgaonkar Road (One Way Road): From Indu Clinic Junction (Syed Jamadar Chowk to Volga Chowk), double lane will be allowed for vehicles between 12:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
