Farmers Protest Delhi Chalo March Live Updates: A ‘jatha’ of 101 farmers will begin a foot march to Delhi at 1 pm on Friday from the border protest site of Shambhu, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said on Thursday. In view of the farmers’ march, the Ambala administration issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, which prohibits any unlawful assembly of five or more people in the district. Central troops and a multi-layered blockade have also been deployed on the Haryana side of the border. The main demands of the farmers include formal guarantee of MSP, farm loan waiver, pension for farmers and farm workers, no increase in electricity tax, withdrawal of police cases (against farmers), and “justice” for the Lakhimpur victims of 2021.
