Amid the ongoing protest on the Punjab-Haryana border, farmers have announced that they will hold a “Kisan Mahapanchayat” in Khanauri on January 4.

A unanimous decision was reached by the leaders of farmers’ outfits, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and Kisan Majdoor Morcha, to hold a Mahapanchayat as a sign of protest against the Centre, and their demands for Minimum Support Price (MSP) crops.

“On January 4, many farmers will be harvesting at the Khanauri border and a Mahapanchayat will be held as the leaders of both the forms have decided,” farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

This decision comes after the death of SKM leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at Khanouri border, which started on November 26.

“Jagjit Singh Dallewal told us that he wants to see all the farmers who have worked for the past 44 years. As we all know that his health is constantly deteriorating, the doctors say that his health condition may get out of control anytime. ” added Kohar.

On Saturday, the Supreme Court quashed farmers protesting against the Punjab government’s efforts to hospitalize farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, while also criticizing the Punjab government for its failure to remove the farmer leader, who has been without food for 34 years. days, in the hospital.

The court’s strong speech came while hearing a contempt plea of ​​the Punjab chief secretary for not following his December 20 order regarding medical assistance to Dallewal, who is scheduled to address the “Mahapanchayat” on January 4, and convince him to go to the hospital. .

Meanwhile, Advocate General Gurminder Singh of Punjab said a medical board was formed and a team of eight doctors was monitoring Dallewal’s health. The lawyer, citing the law enforcement report, said efforts were being made to persuade the SKM leader.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal, 70, has emerged as the face of Kisan Andolan 2.0. The fragile life of this leader has attracted the attention of the government, opposition parties and even the Supreme Court.
