Khan Sir not arrested, case against Khan Global Studies X account for spreading fake news: Bihar Police

The Patna police have registered an FIR against the X handle ‘Khan Global Studies,’ associated with well-known teacher and YouTuber Khan Sir, accusing it of spreading fake news. The controversy started after the handle shared the headline that Khan Sir was released even though he was never arrested. The police have clarified that this post is misleading, baseless and provocative, which is intended to confuse students.

Dr. Anu Kumari, who is the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sachilawa, said that the position lied and said that Khan Sir was arrested and that he should be released.

“This handle did a misleading job. Khan Sir was not arrested by us,” he said. The police added that the teacher appeared at the Gardanibagh police station on his own accord and was later dropped near Atal Path in a police vehicle on his request.

The police statement came amid ongoing protests by civil service aspirants against the ‘regularization’ process in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) preliminary examinations. The protesters want a ‘one shift, one paper’ uniform test to avoid misunderstandings caused by the familiarization process.

On Saturday, the police used the charge to disperse hundreds of people who had gathered near the BPSC office in Patna. Students, angered by the alleged changes in the examination system, want clarity and accountability. However, BPSC officials have denied making any changes in the exam rules.

Amid the tension, Khan Sir was seen expressing his support for the students.

However, the situation escalated when Khan Sir was seen visiting the Gardanibagh police station. Although this fueled speculation about his arrest, the police clarified that he has not been arrested or detained. “He came and left the station on his own accord,” added Dr Kumari.

The 70th BPSC Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 13.
