Ticket number TG 434222 won Kerala’s Thiruvonam Bumper lottery 2024 carrying a first prize of Rs 25 crore. The winner is yet to be announced. The prize winning ticket was sold in Wayanad.
This year, the State Lotteries department, which manages the lottery, sold 71 lakh-plus tickets.
Finance Minister KN Balagopal inaugurated the lottery held at Gorky Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday (October 9, 2024) afternoon.
Once the winner has been identified and formalities are completed, the Lottery department will pay the prize money into the designated bank account after deducting 10% as agent’s commission and another 30% of the remaining amount as tax. The winner(s) will have to pay the additional fee and discount to the winners. Since many lottery winners are tax-free, the Ministry had scheduled the first prize-winner session in 2023.
Mr. Balagopal also launched the Pooja Bumper Lottery which carries ₹ 12 crore as the first prize at the event.
In 2023, the ₹25-crore first prize of the Thiruvonam Bumper lottery went to a ticket held by four joint winners from Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu.
