Two temple officials and the man who allegedly removed the crackers have been arrested in connection with the fire incident at the Neeleswaram temple in Kerala’s Kasargod village.
The police have identified the three accused as Rajesh P, Bharathan and Chandrashekharan. Of them, Bharathan and Chandrashekharan were the secretary and president of the temple committee, while Rajesh was the one who detonated the explosives during the tragedy, police said.

Earlier, Kasargod district police chief D Shilpa announced the formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the accident. The district administration said that an additional magistrate has been ordered to conduct a separate investigation into the incident and submit a report.
According to the police, the incident took place at the Anjoottanbalam Veererkavu Temple near Neeleswaram in the northern state of Kerala. A case has been registered under Explosive Substance Act and various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
