Kerala: Pinarayi Vijayan says IUML is with Jamaat-e-Islami to defeat communists, ally Congress responds – Kerala News

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alleged that the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a key ally of the Congress, was colluding with communal and terrorist groups like Jamaat-e-Islami to defeat the communist movement. Vijayan’s words did not go down well with the Congress who accused him of marginalizing minority organizations to strengthen his ties with the RSS.

“It is wrong to see the Muslim League and the Jamaat-e-Islami through the same lens. The Jamaat-e-Islami is a religious imperialist organization. Its main objective is to build the Muslim world. We cannot say that the Muslim League has such an objective. – Muslim League is a reformist organization,” said Vijayan after releasing the letter – ‘Keralam: Muslim Rashtreeyam – Rashtreeya Islam’ – by CPI(M) state committee member P Jayarajan in Kozhikode on Saturday.

“The biggest danger posed by the Muslim League is that in its eagerness to defeat the communists, it joins forces with the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Jamaat-e-Islami and any other terrorist social organization,” he said.

Jayarajan’s book sparked controversy after it was reported to contain references to PDP leader Abdul Nazer Mahdani harassing Muslim youth in Kerala. Vijayan, however, distanced himself from the controversy.

He said that the Jamaat-e-Islami was an Islamic version of the RSS and a movement that sought the revival of the Caliphate era.

“The political activities of the Muslim League are limited to the country while the Jamaat works to change the world according to Islam. The Muslim League has no allies outside India. But the Jamaat has connections with the Shia extremists in Yemen and the Brotherhood in Egypt, ” said.

He pointed out that Jamaat-e-Islami has two sides – one which is against imperialism and the other which is helping imperialism to take over communists all over the world. He said that IUML should declare that it will not cooperate with religious extremists or terrorist groups, but it could not do so.

“Such a relationship will also lead to the ineffectiveness of the League and make it easier for the Sangh Parivar to strengthen the sectarian divide in the state,” he said.

CONGRESS ACCUSES PINARAYI VIJAYAN OF DOING POLITICS

Throwing his weight behind the IUML, a wing of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), Kerala Congress chief K Sudhakaran alleged that the CPI(M) and Vijayan were forty friends of the Jamaat-e-Islami years, and they were friends and he entered into an alliance with the PDP led by Mahdani.

“The Left party also collaborated with the Jamaat and the SDPI — the political wing of the banned Popular Front of India — in separate elections,” he said.

Sudhakaran countered that Vijayan is now rejecting them to satisfy the Sangh Parivar and that the CPI(M) says it is not working nationally only for political gains.
