Congress member Uma Thomas was seriously injured on Sunday after falling from a garage at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
Thomas was attending an official event at the stadium when the accident happened, where he suffered head injuries and was admitted to hospital for emergency treatment.
Uma Thomas is a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, representing the Thrikkakkara seat which she won in the 2022 by-election.
Congress member and Leader of Opposition in Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, said his condition is stable and he is out of danger.
“There is nothing to fear. His condition is stable. Head injuries require 24-hour treatment. A team of doctors from Kottayam Medical College is coming to Renai Medicity. Arrangements have been made to provide all medical assistance. Vital conditions, including blood pressure, are stable,” Satheesan said.
Regarding the cause of this incident, Satheesan said that is being investigated as the priority is Thomas’ treatment.
“We will check the security lapse. What is important now is to give him the best treatment, which is going well. I have spoken to all the doctors who are looking after him,” said the Kerala LoP.
