‘Kejriwal, Atishi brought innocent children into politics’: BJP asks poll body to remove video | Delhi News

Citing a letter written by National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanoongo to the Election Commission (EC) regarding the alleged use of children in political advocacy by Chief Minister Atishi, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Tuesday demanded that the video posted on X be taken down.

Kanoongo wrote to the EC on Monday, drawing its attention to a video posted on X by Atishi and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal in which children can be heard saying “ab ki baar Kejriwal”.

In his letter, Kanoongo wrote that although he was aware that a model of conduct had not been set in Delhi, the EC was “deeply concerned about the participation of children in political campaigning activities”.

“…The Commission asks your good office to take urgent measures to address the urgent issue and at the same time, asks to consider issuing strict guidelines to all political parties to avoid using children in any political activities,” he wrote.

Demanding that the post be removed immediately, Bhatia said, “Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi have involved our innocent children in politics by uploading their videos. This is a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act 2015. Secondly, the Electoral Commission guidelines say that there should be no statements of children, there should not be, there should not be those actions… This Article X should be removed. soon…”
