Keanu Reeves will lend his iconic Hedgehog Voice to Sonic X Shadows Generations


Yesterday’s Sonic Central Livestream brought a slew of announcements from Sega as it moves deeper into what we call the “Year of Shadows.” In addition to the three-part animated origin story, the DC Justice League comic book tie-in, and the highly anticipated. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 starring Keanu Reeves, fans will also get the chance to play as Reeve’s version of Shadow in the upcoming video game, Sonic X Shadow Generations.

During PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, Sega announced Sonic x Shadow Generations‘ downloadable content in the form of a Sonic the Hedgehog Film package. In it, players can control a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie accurate Shadow as it moves through levels inspired by the upcoming film. The levels, mind you, look a lot like the opening level in Shadow’s eponymous gun-toting PlayStation 2 game. Not only will this game mark the second time Shadow will serve as the protagonist in a Sonic game, its Movie Pack DLC has an extra cherry on top of Shadow being portrayed by Reeves. Yesterday’s surprise announcement shocked Sonic fans and show writer Ian Flynn, who will also be doing double duty as a comic book writer for the DC-Sonic comic series.

Sonic x Shadow Generations launches October 25 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. I Sonic the Hedgehog 3 The Movie Pack launches on December 12. But if people want to throw money at Sega to make sure they get Keanu’s Shadow waiting for them when it’s released, people can buy the digital deluxe version of the game for an extra ten bucks ($59.99 ), where the DLC it will be placed there alongside the digital artbook, soundtrack, and other goodies.

If gaming isn’t your thing, but you’re still game to witness Reeves lend his voice to Shadow and make good. Akira slide, you can look forward Sonic the Hedgehog 3 when it hits theaters on December 20.
