In response to the heavy rains that caused damage to Bengaluru’s infrastructure, the Karnataka government has formed an executive committee to deal with the problems of technology parks and IT companies. The committee, headed by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and vice-chairman IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge, aims to provide long-term solutions to the flood and traffic problems plaguing the city’s tech hubs.
HEAVY RAIN DISRUPTS WORK
Bengaluru experienced unprecedented rainfall in the past week, breaking records in the past three decades. Rainfall ranging from 92mm to 157mm caused severe flooding, affecting many technology parks and IT companies. Many companies were forced to ask their employees to work from home as their offices were flooded.
This is not the first time that Bengaluru has been hit hard by floods. Just two years ago, the Belur Ring Road was flooded, with water entering the technology parks and forcing rescue operations. These recurring problems have prompted the government to take action.
THE GOVERNMENT’S RESPONSE
Realizing the need for a permanent solution, the state government formed a task force to resolve the infrastructure and traffic problems in and around Bengaluru’s technology hub. IT-BT Minister Priyank Kharge expressed the seriousness of the situation, saying, “Bengaluru has been hit by heavy rains due to cloudburst, which has led to major challenges for the city and its people.”
This committee, which includes the heads of IT, BT, and teams with a vision for implementation, will focus on reaching out to industries, companies, business park associations, and citizen groups to develop immediate, short-term, and long-term strategies for strengthening. city ​​infrastructure.

Kharge emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing the problems of the city’s technology industry. “We are aware of the negative impact that the incessant rains have had on the operation of various important bodies in the industry,” he said. The committee has been tasked with assessing infrastructure challenges and implementing solutions that will prevent future floods and improve traffic management in Bengaluru’s technical corridors.
