A day after he was caught by the Lokayukta police while receiving bribe money online, Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) Preeti Raj attached to Kaulaga (B) Gram Panchayat in Kalaburagi taluk was suspended on Tuesday.
Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Bhanwar Singh Meena ordered that the erring police officer be kept under suspension pending investigation.
A Lokayukta police team caught the PDO red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs 17,000 through online transactions at his residence in Dariyapur Layout on the outskirts of the city on Monday morning.
He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The suspension order issued under the Karnataka Civil Service (Classification Control and Appeal) Rules 1957 said that an officer cannot leave his headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
