Jennie Garth she suffered two consecutive miscarriages after tying the knot with her husband Dave Abrams.
“We got married on July 11,” Abrams, 43, said on the Wednesday, Oct. 2, episode of Garth’s “I Choose Me With Jennie Garth” podcast. “Then we got pregnant that month.”
Garth, 52, added that the pregnancy was natural. Abrams recalled that he felt surprised and excited that he would become a father so soon in their relationship. Garth commented that he doesn’t remember much about his pregnancy as he “kept it off”.
Abrams reminded his wife that they went to her doctor and everything was “good to go.” However, things changed dramatically “about four months” later.
“We found that there was no heartbeat,” he said when he was touched.
Garth shared that after learning about the status of her pregnancy she had to undergo a dilation and curettage (D&C), which removes tissue from inside the uterus, according to the Mayo Clinic. The actor did it the same day he heard about the child’s condition.
“I think I remember them saying we can just wait and let it work its way out,” Garth recalled. “Let nature take its place, otherwise we can do the process. Then we chose to do the procedure because it was difficult for me to carry a dead child.”
Abrams shared that after going through that difficult time with his wife, he tried to think this way. However, they found themselves in the same situation.
“But then it happened again,” Abrams recalled while Garth added, “Naturally.”
Garth admitted that he also does not remember the details of the second miscarriage. Abrams reminded her that it was a “short term” pregnancy and they should “change doctors.”
“I think the doctor at the time said, ‘Well, it’s not going to be healthy.’ So we did the D&C again,” she said. “And at that time, I think it was emotionally disturbed that we didn’t know how to talk at that time. So we just wrapped it up and other things went into the barn. “
While the pregnancy loss devastated both Abrams and Garth, the couple sought treatment to try to help them. However, the two admitted that neither of them wanted to talk about each other’s grief and sadness.
Garth admitted that she really wanted to have a child with Abrams, as she adopted three daughters with her ex-husband. Peter Facinelli. The women share daughters Luca, 26, Lola, 21, and Fiona, 17.
“I think at that time, I felt really depressed, really ashamed, I felt like I let you down, like I couldn’t take it, that I loved,” he thought. “And I had these three beautiful daughters with Peter, and you’ve stepped in and been a wonderful stepfather to them.”
It’s been a tough road to parenthood for many famous parents, including Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. Last month, Garth opened up about how she sought IVF treatment with Abrams. After going through several failed attempts, Abrams and Garth went on to break up for 10 months, which she credits to their infertility issues.
“[We] they were trying to have a baby, but it kept failing,” said Garth in an interview in September YOURSELF. “And that was really hard on both of us and on our relationship.”
In 2015, Garth and Abrams got engaged and tied the knot later that year. The two filed for divorce in April 2017 but reconciled. Abrams finally filed for divorce proceedings in February 2019.
