Action-movie legend Jackie Chan meets the original Karate Kid, Ralph Macchio, in the upcoming Karate Kid: Legends. Sony Pictures recently released a trailer for the film starring Chan, Macchio, and Ben Wang. This guy is known for works like Chang Can Dunk and American Born Chinese. He’ll be working with some of the biggest names in the Karate Kid universe and he’ll need some big shoes to fill. Chan’s last time in this universe was in the 2010 adaptation, starring Jaden Smith as the main character.
While the Snake in The Eagle’s Shadow star is returning after a long hiatus, Macchio has been going strong, starring alongside Daniel LaRusso in Cobra Kai. The second half of the sixth season dropped on November 15, and the show has garnered love and support from all audiences. The release of the film was also delayed because the producers did not want it to clash with Cobra Kai.

The trailer for the film shows Ben Wang’s character struggling to make a place for himself after moving from Beijing to New York with his mother. The story repeats the original narrative with the hope of adding something new to it at the same time. Han (Jackie Chan) approaches Daniel (Ralph Macchio), asking for his help in training Li (Ben Wang) for the competition while helping him learn the basic concepts and lessons that carry the martial art.
The ‘Wax on, wax off’ convention ‘Take your jacket’ seems to be a promising recipe, but there is still doubt in the air. This story has been told many times, and many reviewed it. One has to wonder if the film’s star power will be enough to carry it over the line if the narrative doesn’t deliver.
Daniel LaRusso, Julie Pierce, Dre Parker, and now Li Fong. The story of a martial art saving a young and troubled mind is an inspiring story, but one that carries a lot of pressure. All we can do right now is wait in anticipation of the franchise’s next adventure.
The film is all set to hit your screens on May 30, 2025.
