It’s not winter yet, but a slight dip in overnight temperatures is possible this weekend: Met | News from Kolkata

The Meteorological Department, which is yet to announce the onset of winter in West Bengal, on Monday said an “unusual circulation pattern” over the Bay of Bengal has created “favorable conditions” for strong winds to enter the state resulting in a slight drop in overnight temperatures.

Stating that the temperature may drop by two to three degrees in the Himalayan region in the north and Gangetic Bengal in the south, the Alipore center of the Meteorological Department said this will not happen before Friday.

According to the Met forecast, dry weather will prevail over the entire south and west Bengal districts for the next few days, with no chance of rain. For at least three days, night temperatures will not see any change, said the weather office. After that, they may decrease by two or three degrees.

In the northern parts of the state, Darjeeling and Kalimpong may receive light rain from Monday to Wednesday. The remaining regions are expected to experience drought.

Kolkata’s minimum temperature on Monday was 22.8 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees above normal. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 31.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which was 0.2 degrees above normal. Skies will be mostly clear in Kolkata throughout the day on Monday.
