Sunny and the players Bobby Deol opened up about changing male beauty standards at the latest SCREEN Live show, which is in Mumbai this week. The siblings said that their father, the famous Dharmendra, paved the way for them not to wear clothes on screen. Sunny also talked about being in good shape naturally and not relying on artificial supplements, while Bobby talked about being ‘anointed’.
The brothers were shown a photo of Sunny wearing a shirt, exposing his hairy chest in a pool, and were asked to comment on the changing male beauty ideals. Bobby replied, “It started with my father. I remember Phool Aur Patthar, and it wasn’t to show her body. It was about what the character was going through. He took off his shirt because there was an old woman sitting there… It was very amazing, that scene. Bhaiya will know more about it because my father would explain to you…”

Sunny said, “One after the other, the father is drunk and the old woman is shaking. His character is a drunkard, he is a criminal, he was an anti-hero. He sees the lady shivering, and immediately takes her shirt and puts it on. It was just a matter of fact. ” When it was pointed out that male beauty standards have changed since then, and that hairy chests are no longer considered attractive, Bobby replied, “Yeah, I’m waxed. Actually, my hair is thin.”

Sunny said, “I have nothing to do with people. I have nothing against the youth; it becomes fashionable and they follow it. But you shouldn’t be ashamed of who you are and how you are. Masculinity isn’t about having hair on your chest or not, it’s about inner strength. I would advise young people, do sports, do instruments because you enjoy them. You don’t want to be a bodybuilder. Do not try to take shortcuts with steroids. Don’t stay. It will build you up, of course, but in the long run it will have a negative impact on your health.”
Sunny and Bobby also talked about their brotherly relationship, and the bond they share as a family. They also talked about the recent success, and also mentioned the future. Sunny has confirmed that he will play Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part adaptation of Ramayana.starring Ranbir Kapoor.
