Inside Operation Prahar, India’s biggest op to eradicate Naxalism by 2026

In a major effort to end Naxalism in India, the government aims to make the country Naxal-free by 2026. India Today visited Dandakaranya in Chhattisgarh, a hotspot of Naxal activity, to see firsthand the preparations and training of the security forces.

Operation Prahar is the code name used by the security forces to fight Naxal terrorists in states like Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is part of the government’s strategy to deal with the armed challenge posed by the Naxals and was launched in 2017.
