After the division between the Indian and Chinese armies in eastern Ladakh, India will launch a major military operation called ‘Poorvi Prahaar’ on November 8.
The 10-day exercise will bring together the assets of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, demonstrating the synergy between the three forces and their combat readiness.
According to sources, the Army will send its units, artillery guns, Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The Air Force will send its fleet of Su-30 MKI and Rafale fighters, C-130J Super Hurcelus transport aircraft and various helicopters, it said.
Air Force bases in Kolkata, Hashimara, Paanagarh, and Kalaikunda will be operational during the exercise. Commandos of the Indian Navy’s elite MARCOS will also participate in the operation.
“The exercise is aimed at assessing the interoperability between the Army, Navy and Air Force, to strengthen our operational readiness and defense posture in the eastern sector,” a senior defense official told India Today TV.
The tri-service operation came days after Indian and Chinese troops completed their evacuation from Depsang and Demchok, two conflict zones in eastern Ladakh.
After the completion of the withdrawal process, the officials of both India and China are still negotiating to reduce the spread of tropps in the eastern sector.
Talks are underway to find a possible agreement with China, particularly regarding the restoration of patrolling rights in the Yangtse region in the Tawang sector, an area where India had restricted access to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) following a conflict in December 2022, sources said.
“Along with ongoing talks with China, India is increasing its joint combat capability with LAC,” said a source familiar with the matter.
“This dual approach strengthens India’s ability to pursue a peaceful solution, showing that we are ready to protect our sovereignty,” he added.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is expected to visit the Tawang sector during Diwali, stressing the government’s commitment to strengthening defense in the region.
His visit will coincide with the preparations for Poorvi Prahaar, which shows India’s determination to protect its borders and maintain readiness for any emergency along the LAC.
The operation marks a major shift towards a more proactive defense strategy as India works to ensure stability and security along its borders with China.
