India will host the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit early next year


The Federal Government will host the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Conference (WAVES) from February 5 to 9, 2025, to strengthen the country’s media and entertainment industry and increase its impact globally.

Speaking at an exhibition to promote WAVES at Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju said it will be the first global conference to bring together the entire media and entertainment industry.

Mr. Jaju said WAVES aims to be the first platform, encouraging dialogue, commercial cooperation and innovation within the evolving industry environment. The conference will convene industry leaders, stakeholders, and innovators to explore opportunities, address challenges, attract trade in India, and shape the future of the sector.

Jayesh Ranjan, Special Principal Secretary, Department of IT, Electronics & Communications, Telangana government said that the State has the right ecosystem to encourage innovation in this sector and would be happy to take it to the national level.

Earlier in the day, the I&B secretary met film organizations and industry leaders of the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics (AVGC) sector. In a meeting organized by the CBFC regional office of Hyderabad, he promised strict implementation of punitive measures against extortion. He also assured that the government supports the stakeholders of the sports industry.
