A second-year BTech student at IIT Goa allegedly committed suicide in his room in North Goa on Saturday, police said.
According to the police, the deceased, 19, a woman from Madhya Pradesh, was enrolled in the Computer Science and Engineering program at IIT Goa. This incident happened when the student he lived with went to have lunch. When he returned, he found the door closed. Police said the hostel staff opened the door and found the student hanging from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to the hospital.
“When he arrived, he was said to have died. As a preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the student had a health problem… A suicide note, said to have been written by the student, has been found. In the letter, he apologized to his parents for taking the worst step. The reason for the alleged suicide is still unknown,” said a police officer who asked not to be named.
