Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a Bachelor of Arts program in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (BAMSME). This program will be offered through the School of Vocational Education and Training. It aims to equip entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to successfully launch and manage businesses.

The BAMSME program, which begins in the academic session of January 2025, is designed to address the changing needs of young entrepreneurs in India. With a curriculum spread over three years and worth 120 credits, this program is for students who have completed their 10+2 education. Being delivered in English through open and distance learning (ODL) mode, the IGNOU program will provide flexibility and accessibility to students across the country.

The program focuses on analyzing market demand before launching a new business, ensuring profitable business operations, and developing key management, interpersonal and leadership skills, said an official statement issued in this regard. Additionally, the new program will provide a new, skills-based approach to business, preparing students to lead and succeed in the competitive business world, it added.

Eligibility and program details

– Eligibility: Applicants must have completed 10+2 or equivalent.

– Teaching Medium: English.

– Time frame: The program lasts for 3 years, valid for up to 6 years.

– Session Availability: The program is offered in two cycles – January and July.

– Financial Structure: Rs 5,100 per annum (Total amount for 3 years = Rs 15,300).

Candidates for registration in the program will have to visit the official IGNOU admission portal – IGNOU login portal to register.
