BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday said that if the saffron party comes to power in West Bengal, it will send Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to jail for arresting the women of Sandeshkhali for protesting against the allegations of local Trinamool Congress leaders.
His words became significant as Sandeshkhali witnessed massive protests earlier this year over alleged land grabs and harassment of women by local Trinamool Congress leaders, including Sheikh Shahjahan. It also came a day after Banerjee attended a program in a village located in the North 24 Parganas district.
“If the BJP comes to power in the state (in 2026), a commission will be formed regarding the Sandeshkhali incident. Mamata Banerjee will be arrested again for arresting the protesting women in Sandeshkhali,” Adhikari said.
