The Israeli military on Saturday officially announced the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, one day after a major attack in Lebanon.
“Hassan Nasrallah is dead,” said Israeli army spokesman Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani via social media X.
Israel’s Defense Forces (IDF) said Nasrallah, who led the Iran-backed militant group for more than three decades, was killed on Friday when warplanes carried out what it described as a “targeted strike” on Hezbollah’s headquarters in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Among other Hezbollah commanders, the IDF said Ali Karki, the southern commander of Hezbollah, was also killed in the strike.
CNBC could not independently verify the report. No comments or statements from Hezbollah have been made yet.
